Using the Translation View

The Translation view can be used to translate directly inside Paligo, providing an interface where you see the source and target language side by side. We recommend using professional translators for the bulk of translations by creating translation packages, but this can be combined with translating and easy post-editing in the built-in translation editor.

When a publication or its topics has been partly translated, the Resource view  will show this clearly in the Translation status tab:

  1. Go to the Resource view.

  2. If you want to add or remove languages that the topic is supposed to be translated to: select Add languages or Remove Languages in the options menu next to the topic you want to translate..

  3. Change the release status to In translation :



    Remember to check if the content is completely done before you set the release status from "Work in progress" to "In translation". Don't start translating content, and move back and forth between the workflow stages, as this might cause the translation to be out of sync with the original source content.

  4. Open the translation view by clicking the options menu next to the component and select Translate.


    The Translation view opens, showing you a view of the document in both source language and target language. If a text fragment has already been translated in a topic reused elsewhere, Paligo will recognize this and show you the already translated segments



    If you have pre-selected several languages that the topics is supposed to be translated to, then you select the target language for the translation in the drop down menu to the right.

  5. Click a text fragment in the target view to the right. The text fragment opens in a panel, highlighting the source at the same time to simplify translation.
